DozyRugs is characterised by the desire for slowness. Admittedly, the topic is not new. Already in the 19th century, there were numerous representatives who rejected the speed imperative of industrialisation. In his book The World of Yesterday - Memoirs of a European, Stefan Zweig noted "that once there was a time when there was time." A century before that, there was the time of the flâneur, described by Walter Benjamin in his Passagenwerk with a simple observation: "Around 1840, it was temporarily good manners to take turtles for a walk in the passages. The flâneur liked to let them dictate his pace." The turtle also marked the cover of my 1998 book "Elements of Time and Space - The Story of a Turtle", so DozyRugs is just a logical extension of these ideas - just years later. But, maybe Benjamin's turtle got lost in one of the landscapes from the Dreamscape collection? Will you take the time to follow the turtle? Or, do you want to end up like Balzac? - about whom Ernst Robert Curtius wrote a decade before Benjamin's note, in 1923: "Balzac led a life of chasing haste and premature collapse, such as the struggle for existence of modern society has imposed on the inhabitant of the great cities."
